Fingers of Love

It was a quiet night in Jerusalem in the year of 35 A.D. and Aaron, son of John closed his eyelids and leaned down on the side of his cot.  He stretched his neck toward heaven and uttered a silent prayer.  “Heavenly Father,” he said.  “I am coming to you today with a heavy heart.  My wife and children are ill with leprosy and none of the doctors can cure it. I am weak and I am tired of struggling against you and trying to heal them myself.  Forgive me, Father for not trusting you. I lift my wife and children up to You and surrender their lives to you.” Aaron wipes a tear from his face, and continues. “I know it means that they could possibly die. I am here though, trusting you to heal them the way you want to, even if it means them dying and then being relieved of this sickness.  Thank you, Heavenly Father for being here and loving me. Please, heal my family.  I love you.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Aaron finished his prayer, stood up, and walked over to the door of his house. His ees gazed out over the town of Jerusalem.  Gazing at the stars he leaned against the door frame and rested his eyes. He felt conten,t and a peace he had never felt before filled his soul.  Suddenly, he realized one of the stars was getting brighter and closer to him until it formed an image of a glowing, bright, and holy man standing in front of him.  He had the most loving eyes and warmth that surrounded Aaron.  Aaron’s knees quivered as he said “Jesus, is that you?”

“It is I,” Jesus said in the softest and most loving voice Aaron had ever heard. “I have come unto my son, because he called unto me.  Your family is healed.  I love you my wonderful son.”

Crying Aaron ran up to Jesus and He embraced him in a warm hug.  Aaron did not want to let go, and Jesus rubbed Aaron’s head which gave Aaron goose bumps.  Jesus stepped away from Aaron and said, “Continue loving and trusting in me.  I will never forsake my children.” And as suddenly as Jesus had come, He left.  Aaron whispered, “Always, my Father, always.”

Aaron fell down into the dusty streets and wept until he suddenly remembered  his family.  He got up and ran into the mud house and ran to his wife’s bedside.  He gazed at her beautiful face.  It was spot-free and the leprosy had left her; not a scar covered her body.  Aaron leaned his face onto her chest and wept, saying, “Thank you, Father!” over and over.  Feeling a finger brush his tears from his face he turned his face towards his wife and she smiled at him. “Aaron,” she said, “In my dream, fingers reached out and touched my leprosy.  They were the most loving fingers and they gave me warmth that surrounded my body and suddenly I looked at myself and I was healed.”   She was crying by now.  “Aaron I am healed. Jesus came into my room and healed me from leprosy.  Praise Jesus!”

“Elizabeth, that’s wonderful!”  Aaron said.  “I prayed unto God and He sent Jesus down here and He said you were healed, and then He said to never stop trusting in Him.”

“Yes,” Elizabeth said. “Never forsake your Father.  He is here for you.  Just call unto Him and He will grant your wish if He sees fit.”

Poem I composed when I heard about Lane Goodwin

It is dark, scary, horrifying,
Painful and depressing.
The endless hours to keep the body strong.
The endless prayers,
Praying,
Praying for a miracle.
Frustration and all hope is lost,
But then the light flickers in the distance.
The tunnel might have an end,
Pushing forward he tries to stay strong.
Then one night tension is in the air,
Heavy breathing and exasperation,
But a peace felt never before,
Overcomes the room.
Then suddenly,
He’s gone,
Like angel wings,
That picked him off to his destination.
And the tears flood,
Like never before,
But God comforts their hearts,
For he is
Now
Cancer
Free.

In memory of Lane Goodwin
